One benefit of choosing Brushin’ on Belmont is the fact that we have both a pediatric dentist and an orthodontist in the same office! This allows one stop, complete dental care for the whole family—children and parents alike—including orthodontia. In particular, we can offer convenient interceptive orthodontic treatment for your young ones.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their first orthodontic screening by age 7 (or earlier if a problem is detected by parents, the family dentist, or the child’s physician). Not every child needs interceptive treatment, but Dr. Bob is an expert at detecting problems that merit early treatment
Interceptive treatment, sometimes called phase I treatment, is early orthodontic intervention. Some problems, like bite alignment issues and overcrowding, are simpler to fix if addressed early. Interceptive treatment usually occurs while your child still has most of their primary teeth and often fast tracks later treatment—often, a two-phase approach to orthodontic treatment allows for the most efficient treatment.
In addition to improving patients’ overall oral heath, phase I treatment frequently reduces the time your child would be in braces in the future.
Interceptive treatment can only be administered by an orthodontist, and our team can work together for one-stop treatment.
No matter the age of the patient, it is important to continue visiting your regular family dentist during orthodontic treatment. This process is made even easier with our location offering both specialties in one building.
